Rebecca’s Remarkable Journey from Survival to Success

Every brand has a story. But few stories carry the depth, courage and transformation behind Naturally COS and its founder, Rebecca Castano-Mander. As we wrap up 2025, we find ourselves reflecting not just on another successful year in business, but on the extraordinary woman who rebuilt her life, her purpose and her nationally recognised brand from the ground up.

Because before Naturally COS became a brand adored by a community of Australians who value clean, conscious skincare, there was a moment in time when Rebecca’s future could have looked completely different.

The Day Everything Changed

In 2020, Rebecca’s world shifted violently. She was involved in a serious car crash that caused a brain haemorrhage and a stroke, leaving her with severe memory loss and requiring full-time care.

“When I was hit, I was spun out of control,” she said in her 9 News interview – a statement that captured the chaos of that period both physically and emotionally.

Doctors warned her family about the long road ahead. Everyday tasks became difficult. Cognitive rehabilitation became her full-time routine. Her identity as a Mum, a creator, a business owner – was suddenly stripped back to survival.

But it was in this blank slate that something extraordinary began to take root.

A Brand Reborn From Recovery

During her recovery, Rebecca gravitated toward simplicity, nature and nourishment, things that supported her healing rather than overwhelmed it. She began experimenting with organic formulations at home, creating balms and oils that were gentle enough for her own recovering skin and safe for her children.

Those early creations – simple, honest, and rooted in wellness, became the foundation of Naturally COS.

As her memory and strength returned, so did her creativity. Each product became a little victory. Each formulation reflected her determination to rebuild her life with purpose, clarity and intention.

What started as a home-grown project slowly evolved into something much bigger.

National Recognition: A Defining Moment in 2024

In 2024, Naturally COS achieved what many brands spend decades chasing: national recognition. Rebecca’s handcrafted formulations captured the attention of industry judges, customers and media alike.

That year, Naturally COS was named a finalist for Australia’s Beauty Product of the Year — competing against more than 50,000 products nationwide.

It was a milestone that felt almost surreal, especially considering where she had started just four years earlier. The 9 News story highlighting her journey touched hearts across Australia: a Coomera mum who defied the odds after traumatic brain injury and rose to become one of the country’s most inspiring clean-beauty innovators.

2025: A Year of Growth, Purpose and Extraordinary Recognition

Fast forward to today, and Rebecca isn’t just back in business – she’s thriving.

2025 has been one of the most defining years yet for Naturally COS. Beyond expanding nationally, releasing new best-selling formulas and launching signature workshops, the brand reached another major milestone:

Naturally COS was officially named the Best Outstanding Specialised Retail Business on the Gold Coast.

What made this award even more meaningful was the way it unfolded.

To even be considered, the general public had to vote, giving power back to the community that has supported Rebecca since day one. After an incredible response from customers, supporters, and locals, Naturally COS was named a finalist – but that was just the beginning.

The finalist stage required a rigorous and deeply reflective process: over 30 detailed questions, comprehensive evidence of growth, community involvement, sustainability, and brand purpose. It meant opening up the entire journey – the wins, the slow climbs, the impact, the innovation, and putting it forward for formal evaluation.

And Naturally COS didn’t just stand up to the scrutiny. It shined.

Becoming the Best Outstanding Specialised Retail Business on the Gold Coast wasn’t just an award win. It was a testament to everything Rebecca has built since the accident, with resilience, integrity and a commitment to providing natural, ethical, Australian-made skincare that genuinely makes a difference.

Yet even with these incredible accomplishments, Rebecca remains grounded in her mission: To help women feel confident, supported and beautiful in their own skin.

Her words still guide us:

“I want to help you to be like, ‘Look at me. I’m beautiful. I’ve got this.’”

And she means it. Every product she creates, every ingredient she chooses, every workshop she runs – it all comes back to helping others feel empowered in their wellness.
