Its true ! And the best part is we have one of Queensland’s most esteemed stylists – Samijo to guide us. Samijo is the owner of Edge Hairdressing at Tamborine, a Sustainable Salons accredited partner.
Sometimes we focus on the products we use on our hair and not necessarily the bits in between like styling it and how that effects our hair health. Samijo explained if you pull your hair back regularly in a tight ponytail, bun, or cornrows it can damage your hair. However if you put it back loosely instead of tight, it will help prevent damage.
Try hairstyles that put less tension on the roots. The best option would be claw clips. They’re incredible. By using claw clips they can help protect your hair from heat damage and breakage, as well as thinning and hair loss. They are also affordable and easy-to-use, making them a budget-friendly choice for maintaining healthy, beautiful hair. And there are loads to try and choose from at Edge Hairdressing.
Here a some simple tips on how to and how not to style your hair:
1. Never tie your hair up when it’s wet.
2. Use a serum on your hair before putting it into a pony.
3. Give your hair a break
4. Wear your hair down to sleep or do 2 loose plus in your hair using a silk pillowcase also is incredible
5. Use fabric hair ties.
6. Don’t pull the hairline too tightly.
7. Be careful when taking your hair down and brushing out products
8. Do not use too many products on your Hair. If you do please ensure you use a detox shampoo to remove the product buildup
And did you know at Edge Hairdressing, Samijo and her team offer a diagnosis analysis for each individual client. To analyse the desired look of the hair and ensure the health is maintained. Is it fine hair, smooth hair or curly hair?!
Most importantly it starts with what you want to achieve. Secondly, the girls do a diagnosis on the scalp to understand if there is hair thinning, weakness or any lack of body in the hair is the scalp peeling and if excess sebum or any scalp sensitivity is occurring. And lastly, a look at the fibre diagnosis. Sounds technical and it is. This allows the client to have the detox, the care and the gloss all in the correct treatment plan.
