We recently shared some valuable tips for supporting your skin during winter. But if you missed it those three magical steps to starting your Winter regime, here are a few more ideas to help you keep on top of the winter skin survival game.

All seasons present different challenges for our skin. And during winter your skin may need a little extra TLC to keep it plump and hydrated. Winter temperatures can really affect our skin and strip hydration and in turn make it susceptible to irritation, swelling, redness and cracking. Especially our feet. They often get neglected, and you can tell. If they look a little leathery and flaky, its time to load up on the moisture.

Switch up from lotions to heavy body mousses and creams. While the hot Summer days may have relished the lighter lotions, Winter requires more moisture and will soak up that deluxe and complex nutrient loaded mousse fast. And a great way to tell if its absorbed, it won’t feel wet or tacky.

Incorporate an Aloe or Clay based face masque at night. Moisture and more moisture are key. Have you ever applied aloe to your skin and regretted it?! Didn’t think so. It absorbs super-fast and its like a big glass of purified water for your skin. And if you want to mix it up, give a clay masque a try. Although leaving it on will get messy, so we don’t recommend an overnight application. Apply after your evening cleanse, sit back and get your Stan “A Good Girls Guide to Murder” on. Apparently, its a hit. Feel free to tell us if we heard wrong. And once the masque is nice and tight and starts to crack like a dry riverbed, rinse off with warm water. Spritz on some Naturally COS Hydrating and Toning Face Mist and finish off with Naturally COS Madagascan Vanilla Face Custard and you’re set.

And never underestimate the power of a humidifier. A great way to help you sleep better and to increase moisture in the air during Winter. Humidifiers are a great idea because they add moisture to the room which intern supports skin health and hair. And completely off topic, they help with snoring. So if you have a snoring buddy beside you, you can tick that off the list too.

(This idea may not be suitable for you or your family depending on your personal circumstances)

What if my skin is so dry its painful or uncomfortable? I would suggest seeking a Qualified dermatologist support and/or booking in a specialised treatment at a day spa. For example, Naturally COS have great products to support you and by visiting a day spa who offers massages or facials using our specialised formulations, their technique can help your skin absorb faster. Maternal Grounding use holistic techniques and layer up on the oils and butters while using a steamer to really pump that love back in.
